Norman R. Pilote, 50, died Dec. 4, 2004. Mr. Pilote, a 20-year member of GCSAA, had been director of golf course operations at Frenchman’s Creek CC in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., since 2000. Previously, he served as director of golf course maintenance at the Sea Island Co. in Sea Island, Ga., where he lived for many years. Following graduation from the University of Arizona, where he received a degree in business administration, Mr. Pilote’s career included construction and grow-in of three Mexican golf courses: Lomas CC, Los Lagos CC and Roma CC. Other courses Mr. Pilote was associated with include Feather Sound CC in Clearwater, Fla.; Lake Forest CC in Louisville, Ky.; Valhalla GC in Louisville; and Glen Oaks CC in Louisville. In 2000, he received the Georgia GCSA’s Gold Pen Award. Mr. Pilote is survived by his mother, Rita Pilote; a sister, Mary Pilote; a stepson, John Jacko Storz; and his wife, Mary Kiernan Pilote, 230 Lone Pine Drive, Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33410.

David A. Meyer, 62, died Dec. 6, 2004. For more than 20 years, he was the superintendent at the Indian Lakes and Nordic Hills golf clubs and was the former co-owner of River Heights GC and Prestbury GC, all in the Aurora, Ill., area, and Hughes Creek GC in Elburn, Ill., where he had been the manager. Mr. Meyer was a 33-year member of GCSAA and was a member and past president of the Midwest Association of GCS. Mr. Meyer grew up in the farming community and remained actively involved in farming through his support of area 4-H Club activities, the DuPage County Fair Board, the DuPage County Farm Bureau and the Illinois State Fair Association. He is survived by two sisters, Mary Ann Bobosky and Sue Baron; three brothers, Bill, Jim and Bob Meyer; two sons, Bryan and Austin Meyer; two daughters, Heather Espe and Kara Meyer; three grandchildren; and his wife, Penny Meyer, 6 S. 183 County Line Road, Big Rock, IL 60511.

Michael J. Kilpatrick, 58, died Oct. 7, 2004. Mr. Kilpatrick, a 14-year member of GCSAA, was superintendent at Naga-Waukee GC in Delafield, Wis., before his retirement in January 2004. During the many years he was employed by Waukesha County, he had also been superintendent at Moor Downs GC and Wanaki GC. Following training he received as a rescue fireman with the U.S. Air Force from 1966 to 1970, Mr. Kilpatrick joined the North Lake (Wis.) Volunteer Fire Department. He later became assistant fire chief and was on standby duty for another fire department that was battling a large fire when he succumbed to cardiac arrhythmia. Mr. Kilpatrick is survived by his mother, Mabel Nelson; three siblings, Jim Darrow, Judy Stocks and Tim Kilpatrick; a son, Charles Kilpatrick; two daughters, Kristine Andres and Tricia Smith; three grandchildren; and his wife, Marjorie Kilpatrick, W317N8311 State Road 83, Hartland, WI 53029-9528.

Raymond A. Link, 33, died Nov. 27, 2004, in a boating accident while snorkeling off the coast of Belize. Mr. Link, a three-year member of GCSAA, had recently been named co-superintendent at The Valley Club in Hailey, Idaho. He began his golf course maintenance career as a mechanic at the Coeur d’Alene (Idaho) Resort and became the equipment manager at The Valley Club in 1997. Mr. Link attended the Penn State University turfgrass program and, following his graduation in the spring of 2003, was promoted to assistant superintendent. Mr. Link was an avid mountain biker, fisherman, skier and hiker. He is survived by his father, Raymond Elden Link Sr., 601 East Bay St., Gordon, NE 69343.

Walter Wally L. Schulz, 66, died Jan. 3. Mr. Schulz had been superintendent at Aurora Hills GC in Aurora, Colo., for more than 20 years before his retirement from the city of Aurora in 1999. A 17-year member of GCSAA, Mr. Schulz played in numerous GCSAA Golf Championships. A daughter, Kari Schulz, preceded him in death. He is survived by a brother, Otto Schulz; three sisters, Doris McElroy Sheldon, Dolores McKenzie and Elnora Allan; three sons, Bradley, Michael and Todd Schulz; and 10 grandchildren.
