UltraTech International Inc. has launched its Ultra-HardTop P4 Plus storage unit for spill-containing drums. Four 55-gallon drums can fit into the unit, which offers a lockable two-way entry and a roll-top cover. Doors swing out to load or unload the drums, and the HardTop’s 8.75-inch containment pallet puts drum-top funnels at a convenient level to pour hazardous wastes, reducing potential splashing. An all-polyethylene surface prevents the HardTop from rusting or corroding. Polyethylene loading ramps are optional. Contact UltraTech International Inc., 800-353-1611 (www.spillcontainment.com). Developed by Glenn White, CGCS, the Greens-Mate ball mark filler is currently in production and will be marketed through White Metal Golf. The product, developed over a six-year period by White and his brother Bill, eliminates the need for golfers and golf course employees to bend over to fix a divot. Composed of a 3-foot-tall green plastic tube with a filler spout at the top, the Greens-Mate is operated by pushing the base against the green above a ball mark and releasing sand through the tube to fill the hole. A carrying strap will be added to the product before shipments begin. The Greens-Mate holds enough sand to fill ball marks on nine greens, and it also can help reduce hours of labor for filling divots on tees, White says. The Toro Co. unveils its Greensmaster Flex 18, a walk-power greensmower with an 18-inch cutting width. The Flex 18 can shear turf closely to cuts as low as 1⁄16-inch without scalping, even on severe undulations in concave areas, the company says. Built with many design elements of Toro’s Flex 21, the Flex 18 offers a footprint of 8.75 inches and a tapered drum that relieves overlap marking on sensitive turf areas and sloped greens. The cutting units can move in four directions around the bedknife centerline. Its patent-pending bedbar geometry keeps the bedknife aligned for a consistent cut. The Greensmaster Flex 18 also comes standard with a sealed gearbox and self-lubricating bearings, an easily removeable cutting unit for servicing and controls within reach of the operator’s position. The Kutting Edger Cart Path Edger from Bishop Enterprises Inc. is now available for use on the Hustler Commercial Zero Turn Rider — the first time an edger of this kind is designed for use on a commercial zero-turn rider. According to the company, the Kutting Edger Cart Path Edger allows a user to edge an 18-hole course in four to five hours with an experienced operator, compared to the eight hours the job would take with a hand-operated edger. Designed especially for irrigating golf courses under windy conditions, the Eagle 705/755 Wind Tolerant Rotor from Rain Bird Corp.’s golf division delivers head-to-head water distribution in windy areas. The rotors reduce the loss of range in windy conditions without decreasing the distance of throw, the company says. Its features include an inverse, wedge-shaped spray pattern with a greater water mass up front to create more inertia to contend with the wind, larger water droplets, a patent-pending flow channel design that lessens frictional loss and an optimum 12-degree spray trajectory that offers wind tolerance. Rain Bird’s rotors should be used only during windy periods, the company advises. Contact Rain Bird Corp., 800-724-6247 (www.rainbird.com/windsolution).
