Dan Patrick, dare we say it? — En fuego.

The “SportsCenter” anchor and host of “The Dan Patrick Radio Show” has been with ESPN since 1989. Patrick and his co-host Keith Olbermann became the faces of ESPN in the 1990s. With a dry wit and catch phrases like “nothing but the bottom of the net!” and “you can’t stop him, you can only hope to contain him,” Patrick helped make “SportsCenter” a must-watch program for sports junkies across the nation.

Patrick has taken his shtick to ESPN the Magazine, where he writes “Outtakes,” the magazine’s most popular piece, where he does no-holds-barred question-and-answer interviews with the sports world’s most interesting figures. He has also appeared in sports-themed movies, such as “The Waterboy,” “BASEketball” and the remake of “The Longest Yard.” In January 2000, Patrick was named as the National Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association, making him just the second cable commentator to receive the honor.

(I’m a member at) Race Brooks CC in Orange, Conn. John (Gallagher, 23-year class A member) is the superintendent. He’s a solid guy; you don’t know he’s there.

I think (the work of superintendents) is a mystery. I think it’s a total mystery to people. I haven’t figured it out. It’s sort of like making sausage: You don’t want to see how it’s made, you just enjoy the sausage when it’s done.
