TSRHC Learn to Golf receives gift
Thank You from the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children Learn to Golf Program
The TSRHC Learn to Golf Program was fortunate to have a paramobile donated by Barbara Backhaus the Managing Director of KidSwing International - www.kidswing-international.com. This device allows children with mobility impairments to move around the golf course from tee to green without having to leave the chair. The child can use the chair to raise from a sitting to standing position. Unfortunately, there were only limited opportunities to educate the patients and their families about the paragolfer because there was no way of transporting it to the various Learn to Golf clinics.
That’s Where The North Texas GCSA Came to the Rescue!
With the monies raised on the Betting Hole last November at the Scholarship Tournament, the hospital was able to purchase a cargo trailer with which the Handicap Golf Vehicle can be safely stored and hauled. Having the 4’ Wells Cargo trailer allow the program to transport the paragolfer to any of the Learn to Golf clinics within driving distance. These clinics include locations in Dallas, Fort Worth, Denison, Longview, Austin, Lindale, Waco, and Wichita Falls. At each of these clinics an orientation is conducted so all families learn about it. This information was provided along with very sincere appreciation by longtime friend of the North Texas GCSA and Director of Therapeutic Recreation, Dana Dempsey, MS, CTRS.
