The quality of your irrigation water can have an impact on plant health and soil structure. The acceptable concentration range of the constituents may be tested, but do you understand the results? This session will review the process of testing irrigation water, help you understand and interpret the test results and also identify how to adjust your water management strategies to deal with the problems of poor water quality. A review of threshold values for water treatment will be explained, and the relative tolerance of various turf and landscape species to poor quality water will be presented.

There are various treatment options to improve water quality to acceptable levels. Treatment costs and the feasibility of implementing the treatment equipment will also be discussed. You'll also learn about operating and maintenance issues associated with various treatment technologies.
