Iowa State repeats win at 2012 Turf Bowl

At this year's 18th annual Turf Bowl competition, sponsored by John Deere Golf, the Cyclones took first place; the University of Massachusetts-Amherst took second place; and the University of Maryland won third place.

Turf Bowl Kick Off Reception

5:30 – 7 pm Riviera, Top of the Riv

All Turf Bowl participants are encouraged to attend this event to kick off the 18th Annual GCSAA Turf Bowl Competition. Teams have the opportunity to pre-register for the exam before the reception. Turf faculty advisors and team-superintendent mentors are also welcome to attend.

Thursday, March 1

18th Annual Collegiate Turf Bowl Competition

8 – 11:30 am Riviera, Royale Pavilion 2

Engaging teams of up to four participants, the Turf Bowl exam will range from areas in mathematics and turfgrass growth and development to identification of soils, diseases, weeds, insects and turfgrass species. The business and financial management aspect of the superintendent profession will also be covered, in addition to equipment identification and irrigation elements.

Please note: This competition is for undergraduates only.

Turf Bowl Awards Ceremony

5 – 5:30 pm
LVCC, Central Hall
John Deere Booth 615

Join the turf bowl teams and faculty to hear the announcement of the top 10 teams of the 18th Annual GCSAA Collegiate Turf Bowl Competition. A total of $10,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded, along with the traveling Turf Bowl trophy to the first place team.
