advice:A lot depends
which two of Tapatio Springs' three nines are selected for the
event. The older, more established Valley and Lakes courses are
tree-lined and play fast, with Frederick Creek in play on many of
the holes. Both also are prone to windy conditions at the resort's
1,900-foot elevation. The new Ridge Course, on the other hand, is
a more dramatic lay-of-the-land layout. "However they set it
up, the best advice here is to hit it straight off the tee,
otherwise trouble is imminent," says McClure.
McClure on
McClure: "I like to
maintain a veteran staff. I think that really helps because you
come to know that some of them can do some jobs better than they
can others. We've got a lot of work off the golf courses here, so
that philosophy has worked well. I'm able to put the right people
in the right places." |
