The American Cancer Society estimates that in the year 2000 about 6,900 new cases of testicular cancer were diagnosed in the United States. An estimated 300 men died of testicular cancer in 2000. Testicular cancer is one of the most curable forms of the disease. Studies show that the cure rate exceeds 90 percent in all stages combined. The five-year survival rate for stage I and stage II testicular cancer is more than 95 percent. The five-year survival rate for stage III disease, in which cancer has spread beyond local lymph nodes, is 75 percent.
