Superintendent-written feature stories have long been a cornerstone of Golf Course Management magazine. Since 1977, the Leo Feser Award has recognized the best superintendent-written story published in GCM during the previous year, and countless readership surveys have shown that readers of GCM value superintendent-written stories above almost all others. That’s why last year the staff of GCM decided to dedicate one entire issue — the November issue — to the publication of nothing but superintendent-written feature stories. The response to that issue was overwhelmingly positive, and in this month’s GCM, we’re proud to once again turn over the feature section of GCM to stories written exclusively by golf course superintendents. All four of these stories are eligible for the 2005 Leo Feser Award. Feser winners receive an all-expenses-paid trip to the Golf Industry Show and GCSAA Education Conference, where they receive recognition during the Opening Session. They also have their names engraved on a plaque permanently displayed at GCSAA headquarters. All superintendent authors in GCM receive a $300 stipend for stories. |
