Hoolehan steps up to helm

GCSAA members elected Sean A. Hoolehan, CGCS, president of the association during the annual meeting in Atlanta.

Hoolehan, a 21-year member of GCSAA, has served on the board since 2001 and has been the superintendent at Wildhorse Resort & Casino in Pendleton, Ore., since 1996.

In addition, Ricky D. Heine, CGCS, general manager at The Golf Club Star Ranch in Austin, Texas, was elected vice president, and David S. Downing II, CGCS at Rivers Edge Golf Club in Shallotte, N.C., was elected secretary-treasurer.

The final two open board seats were filled by Patrick R. Finlen, CGCS, director of golf maintenance operations at The Olympic Club in San Francisco, and Sanford G. Queen, CGCS, manager of golf operations for the city of Overland Park (Kan.). Directors who will be serving the remainder of their terms are Mark D. Kuhns, CGCS, director of grounds at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, N.J.; Robert M. Randquist, CGCS, director of golf course and grounds at Boca Rio Golf Club in Boca Raton, Fla.; and James R. Fitzroy, CGCS, director/superintendent at Wolaston Recreational Facility/Presidents Golf Course in North Quincy, Mass.

Mark J. Woodward, CGCS, golf operations manager for the city of San Diego, immediate past president, and Gary K. Carls, CGCS, golf operations supervisor for the city of Sunnyvale, Calif., are both retiring from the board of directors.
