A year ago, Anthony Williams, CGCS, didn’t have much time to enjoy his first national Environmental Leaders in Golf Award. He was too busy looking for work after his course, Georgia’s PineIsle Resort and Golf Club, was sold by Marriott Golf. But his old employer didn’t let him look long, putting him in charge of maintenance at another of its properties in Georgia, Stone Mountain Golf Club. Now Williams is enjoying the distinction of being the first superintendent to win back-to-back national ELGAs.

This month’s GCM features Williams and the three other top honorees in the 2006 ELGA program, in addition to stories on the winners of GCSAA’s President’s Award for Environmental Leadership and Distinguished Service Awards. This month’s cover photo by Aidan Bradley (www.golfcoursephotography.com) features the 10th hole on the Ironwood Course at Anthem Country Club in Phoenix. William Rupert, a 20-year GCSAA member, is the club’s director of golf
course maintenance.
